Itinerary
Upon arriving at the Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative from CEMT Travel, who will take you to your hotel. After checking in and freshening up, you will have the opportunity to rest. In the evening, CEMT Travel will host a welcome dinner. You will spend the night in Kathmandu.
During this day, we will visit several world heritage sites including Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Bouddhanath Stupa. Durbar Square offers a glimpse into the lives of ancient royalty, while Pashupatinath Temple is a significant place of pilgrimage for Hindus. Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, and Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, are also highlights of this tour. In the afternoon, we will meet our fellow participants and discuss the details of the trip at CEMT Travel's office. We will spend the night in Kathmandu.
We will start the day with an early morning flight to Lukla, the starting point for all Everest treks. We will meet the rest of our team there and begin the trek. Our route will take us on a trail that gradually descends to the village of Cheplung, where we will catch a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred mountain that has never been climbed. From there, we will continue to gradually descend until we reach Phakding, where we will spend the night
Our trek today will take us through a pine forest and along the northward-flowing Benkar valley. We will cross the Dudh Koshi River and pass through the villages of Chumoa and Monjo, eventually reaching the entrance of the Everest National Park. After crossing a suspension bridge, we will pass through the village of Jorsale and follow the course of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. The trail then becomes steep as we make our way up to Namche Bazaar, the largest town in the Everest region. We will spend the night there.
Today we have the opportunity to explore Namche Bazaar, the primary town of the Everest or Khumbu region. Here you can find government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. We can also hike up to the Sagarmatha National Park to enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kongde. If you are interested in a day hike, you can trek to the village of Khumjung. You will also have the chance to visit the Hillary School and a monastery that houses a yeti scalp. We will spend another night in Namche Bazaar.
The trek to Phunki is an easy walk. From there, we will begin a gradual ascent to the village of Tengboche, which is home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest monastery in the Everest region. The monastery is located within the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers stunning views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. If we arrive at the monastery by 3:00pm, we will have the chance to observe a Buddhist religious ceremony. We will spend the night in Tengboche.
Today our trail will take us through lush forests of birch, fir, and rhododendron trees. As we trek, we will have the opportunity to admire views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The trail will descend to Debuche and cross the Imja River, leading us to Pangboche. We will follow the upper Pangboche trail and take in the stunning Himalayan vista and visit the Pangboche Monastery. We will then continue on to the Imja Valley and Lobuche River before ascending to Dingboche, a picturesque village with beautiful fields of barley, potatoes, and buckwheat, dotted with grazing animals.
Spending a day in Dingboche will help us adjust to the high altitude. To make the most of our time, we can climb a ridge behind the village and take in views of six of the world's tallest peaks, including Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. We will also be able to see Cholatse and Taboche peaks. From this vantage point, we will have a northwest view of many other Himalayan peaks rising above the Khumbu Khola Valley, with Lobuche West, Lobuche East, and Lhotse being the most prominent. From another location on the ridge, we can also appreciate the picturesque Imja Khola Valley and the beautiful Dingboche village. We will spend the night in Dingboche.
Today's trek from Dinboche to Duglha is relatively short. The trail will take us across a wide pass and offer a change of scenery from walking in a straight line. At the beginning of the trek, we will be surrounded by the majesty of the Himalayas. As we continue, the valley will begin to narrow and we will pass through the campsite of the first successful Everest Expedition in 1953. We will also catch glimpses of Mt. Pumori. As the trail descends and curves, we will say goodbye to Mt. Pumori. After crossing a stream, we will ascend to Duglha, a small village with a large string of prayer flags hung across the valley. If we have time, we can walk for 45 minutes to an hour and visit the Memorial Shrine. We will spend the night in Duglha.
Today's trek will take us up the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The trail will be boulder-strewn as we ascend Chupki Lhara, a ridge that offers spectacular mountain views. At the top of the ridge, we will find prayer flags and stones marking memorial shrines for climbers who have lost their lives on Mt. Everest. As the trail descends towards the Khumbu Glacier moraine, we will be faced with several impressive peaks, including Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. As we cross the Khumbu Glacier, we will also see Mt. Nuptse. We will spend the night in Lobuche.
While the trek to Everest Base Camp is not particularly difficult, there is a lot of up and down on a glacier path and rough terrain to navigate. As we reach the base camp, we will be able to take in the incredible melt patterns and marvel at the gently rounded ice towers on the upper part of the Khumbu glacier. The base camp itself is stunningly beautiful, offering amazing views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori mountains. After soaking in the beauty of the surroundings, we will head back towards Gorak Shep, where we will spend the night.
Today, we will wake up early to begin the hike to Kala Patthar. The temperature will be cold, and there may be chilly winds, so it is important to dress warmly. The trail to the summit is fairly steep, but we will take it at a comfortable pace. As we climb, we will be able to see Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse mountains. The view from the summit is outstanding, with a clear view of the world's tallest mountain, Everest, and other mighty Himalayan peaks. After spending some time at the summit of Kala Patthar, we will return to Gorak Shep, which will be relatively easier than the ascent.
Those who are visiting the Everest Base Camp today will have an early breakfast, as the hike to the base camp takes longer than the hike to Kala Patthar. After returning to Gorak Shep, both groups will have lunch together. Following lunch, we will descend to Pheriche to spend the night.
Today's trek will involve losing about 2,000 feet in elevation and walking on a trail with many ups and downs. We will descend through a hillside filled with rhododendron and juniper trees and cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. As we descend rapidly through a pine forest, we may be able to spot mountain goats, pheasants, and other wild animals and birds that are common to the area. The path will eventually reach Sansa, from where we can enjoy views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse mountains. We will then walk on winding trails and through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar. We will spend the night in Namche Bazaar.
Today, we will begin our trek to Namche Bazaar on rocky terrain. It will mostly be a downhill trek on a trail alongside the Dudh Koshi River. We will cross several suspension bridges and pass by several monasteries and villages before reaching Lukla. Once we arrive in Lukla, we will spend the rest of the day resting, as it will be our last day in the mountains. We will spend the night in Lukla.
We will catch an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, after our long mountain journey. Once we arrive in Kathmandu, we can take a rest or do some souvenir shopping. If we want to explore any other areas of Kathmandu, we can do that today. Our guides can help with both souvenir shopping and sightseeing. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. We will spend the night in Kathmandu.
Today marks the end of our journey in Nepal! A representative from CEMT Travel will drop us off at the airport about 3 hours before our scheduled departure flight. If you wish to extend your stay in Nepal for other adventure activities or to visit neighboring countries like Bhutan, India, or Tibet, CEMT Travel can assist with all necessary arrangements.

The Everest Base Camp trek is considered a moderate to demanding trek that does not require any technical mountaineering skills. It is essentially a long hike up to an altitude of 5,364 meters / 17,599 feet. The trek can be physically challenging due to its duration of 12 days of hiking over a variety of terrains (14 days including arrival and departure). However, no special technical expertise is required to complete the trek.
The best time to embark on the Everest Base Camp trek is during the spring (March-May) and fall (October-November) when the weather is most favorable for high altitude climbing. These seasons offer clear skies and stunning mountain views. It is also possible to do this trek in February and early September, but the optimal time is during the mentioned months.

It’s also important to note that trekking to the Everest Base Camp can be physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness. It is recommended that you start training a few months in advance, particularly if you are not used to long walks or hikes. This can help you to build up your endurance and strength, and reduce the risk of injury during the trek. Some helpful training activities include walking, running, cycling, and swimming. It’s also a good idea to gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts as you get closer to the trek. This can help you to prepare your body for the physical demands of the journey.
